Acre leads the national ranking of dengue cases in 2025; climate change are among the causes

Acre continues to lead the national ranking of dengue cases, according to the Ministry of Health. In 2024, the state was left out of the podium, but the situation changed by 2025.

Since the beginning of the year, the state ranks first in the amount of probable cases of the disease per 100,000 inhabitants, so far 85% of the total cases of last year.

Until the last epidemiological week, 661.3 cases were recorded per 100,000 inhabitants – which is equivalent to 5,824 cases in absolute numbers.

The state decreed due to dengue and other arboviruses on January 9.

The record of cases in Acre was in 2021, with 14,023 records, more than double the total of 2024 (6,780).

Record’s R7 News Portal has attributed the increase in cases in Acre to climate change. “They created rainy periods and high temperatures – two factors that have an intrinsic connection with the proliferation of Aedes aegypti – and the turnover of different sophia of the disease, ”says the report.

Brazil reached 152 deaths caused by dengue in 2025 on Thursday (20), with 360 deaths still under investigation. This represents an average of three deaths a day. Since the beginning of the year, 352,000 probable cases of the disease have been accounted for throughout the country, with a national incidence rate of 169.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
