The widening of the railroad between Contumil (Porto) and Ermesinde (Valongo) will force the demolition of houses in Contumil, Rio Tinto and Ermesinde.
The railroad enlargement project between Contumil (Porto) and Ermesinde (Valongo) confirmed on Monday that they will have to be Demolidated 87 buildings.

The structures to demolish are mainly attached (some habitable) and dwelling garages from Rua da Ranha, in Porto, next to the circumval, despite the demolition of at least one complete housingcorresponding to the number of port 190.
North of Rio Tinto station, which will also be expanded from two to four lines, is a zone “consisting of a housing cluster and some attachments existing in the public places ”, of which about a dozen habitable houses will be demolished.
At issue are buildings on the street and Travessa Padre Joaquim das Neves, as well as facilities already close to Rua do Caneiro and the homonymous level passage, which will be suppressed and replaced by a lower road passage.

Near Águas Santas (Maia), is “a small number of dwellings and a car workshop and a garage in the Apealer zone”, also involving annexes, constructions in poor condition and houses in numbers 72 and 201 Da Travessa João de Deus, already in Ermesinde (Valongo).
The environmental impact study of the work, reported in 2023 by Lusa, said that in question were 88 buildings and 21 inhabited houses.
The public tender to execute the endeavor was launched on Wednesday and has 150 million euros.
