The Italian tax service has requested 12.5m euros from its X platform for liabilities that Twitter did not respond to in the past.
According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, this is a VAT not paid in 2016 – 2022. Until the beginning of April, the administration of “X” may enter into a dialogue with the Italian State, pay the amount requested or to he appeals.
The investigation was carried out by the Italian Financial Police and the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office, which believe that social media by collecting the personal information of the citizens enrolled in them have a financial benefit and must therefore pay value added tax.
