The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD)leads the dispute by the State Government in 2026, according to a genius/Quaest survey released on Wednesday (27). The survey points out that Paes has 29% of voting intentions, followed by the senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL)with 20%, and by the former governor Benedita da Silva (PT)which appears with 7%.
Other names cited in the survey include Washington Reis (MDB), with 5%, Rodrigo Bacellar (Union), with 2%, and Monica Benício (PSOL), with 1%. Deputy Governor Thiago Pampolha (Union) did not score. Among respondents, 12% said they were undecided, while 24% said they intend to vote blank, null and null and not attend the polls.
The survey was conducted between February 19 and 23 and listened to 1,404 voters from the state of Rio de Janeiro with 16 years or older. The margin of error is three percentage points, more or less, and the confidence level is 95%.

The research also evaluated the voters’ perception of the influence of the current governor, Claudio Castro (PL), in the state succession. When asked if Castro deserves to elect a successor, 52% of respondents said no, while 39% consider that he should have this influence. Another 9% did not know or preferred not to answer.
