The Italian police detained a man of 38-year-old Turk living in Italy suspected of participating in a criminal gang planning terrorist attacks. Ansa reported on Thursday, TASR writes. A man is investigated for suspicion of several crimes – from international arms trafficking, aid in illegal immigration and keeping, possession and transport of weapons.
According to investigators, the Turk is suspected of linking to a gang that committed or planned to commit terrorist attacks in Europe – Including a frustrated attack on the aluminum in Turkey planned on 19. or 20 March 2024 and the perfect murder of a Turkish citizen in Berlin from 10 March 2024.
This criminal network was led by Kurd Baris Boyun, which, together with 20 other people, was detained last May 22 as part of a joint operation of Italian, Swiss, Bosnian and Dutch police. Boyun allegedly organized a network focused on drug and weapon trading and smuggling migrants to Europe through the Balkan route. From 2022 to his detention last year, Boyun was in the house arrest, where he continued to issue instructions for his people. On Thursday, the detainee man was his relative and guardian.
