Collision with poultry force Emergency Emergency Landing airplane from FedEx

A FedEx cargo plane faced an emergency situation last Saturday, being forced to land at New Jersey Newark International Airport, due to a fire in one of the engines, caused by the impact with a group of birds.

The incident occurred around 8 am (local time) and, despite the fright, the three boeing 767 crew members left unharmed. According to Lenis Valens, spokesman for the New York Port Authority and New Jersey, landing led to a brief suspension of air traffic, but operations were resumed shortly after.

Austin Kemker, spokesman for FedEx, highlighted the competence of the crew, which followed Indianapolis. “The speed and professionalism of our pilots were exemplary. We also thank the effective response of emergency teams, ”he said.

The case is now under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transport Security Council.
