The president of Ukraine, Volodmir Zelenski, said on Sunday, 2, that the war between Russia and Ukraine “is still far, far from over.” Zelenski’s statements occurred after a chat with US President Donald Trump on Friday 28 about the future of the conflict. The Ukrainian President also said he is confident in maintaining the relationship between Kiev and Washington.

“I think our relationship with the US will continue because it is more than an occasional relationship,” Zelenski said on Sunday night, referring to Washington’s support in the last three years of war. “I believe Ukraine has a strong enough partnership with the United States to maintain military and economical help,” he said in a Briefing in Ukrainian.

The Ukrainian President was optimistic, despite the diplomatic fight between Western countries that have helped Ukraine with military equipment and financial aid. The turnaround of events is undesirable to Ukraine, whose army is having difficulty fighting the Russians.

Zelenski says the end of the war is 'far away'; Trump rebates: 'He doesn't want peace'

Zelenski participated in a summit with European leaders in London over the weekend. The consensus is that Europe will have to increase its military and economic financing to Ukraine.

Europe suspects Trump’s motives and strategy to end the conflict. Friedrich Merz, Germany’s probable next chancellor, said on Monday, that he did not believe the discussion in the Oval Hall was spontaneous.

Merz pointed out that he watched the scene repeatedly. “My assessment is that it was not a spontaneous reaction to Zelenski’s interventions, but apparently an induced escalation at this meeting in the Oval Hall,” said Merz. “I would argue that we prepare to have to do much, much more for our own security in the coming years and decades,” he said.

The German politician said he was “surprised” with the tone of the discussion, but that there was “a certain continuity in what we are seeing Washington at the moment.”

Trump Rebate Green

After Zelenski’s statement, Trump countered the Ukrainian President. “This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenski and the US won’t tolerate it for much longer!” The US president said in a publication on his social truth platform.

“That’s what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want to be peace while he has the support of the United States,” said Trump. The US president also said that Europe is unable to provide enough military aid to give Kiev a chance in his fight against Moscow. “Europe, at the meeting it had with Zelenski, categorically stated that it cannot do the work without the US. This is not a major statement to be made in terms of demonstration of strength against Russia. ”

Discussion

The chat between Trump and Zelenski began during an open press meeting at the Oval Hall on Friday. The Republican greeted the Ukrainian President with a handshake before making a joke about his military style costume. During the meeting, the president of the United States asked Ukraine to accept “concessions.”

Zelenski, in turn, demanded that there was no condescension with the Russian President, whom he called the “killer” and showed photos of the war started three years ago after the invasion of his country. Suddenly the tone changed. United States Vice President Jd Vance intervened, defending “diplomacy”-the kick of the discussion.

After the tense dialogue, Trump published a statement on his social networks in which he said that the Ukrainian Volodmir Zelenski is not ready for peace that involves American participation. “We had a very significant meeting at the White House today. We greatly learned that it could never be understood without a conversation under so much fire and pressure, ”wrote the president on his social media platform, the Social Truth.

“It’s amazing what is revealed through emotion, and I determined that President Zelenski is not ready for peace if the United States is involved, because he thinks our involvement gives him a great advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want peace. He disrespected the United States of America in his estimated oval hall. He can come back when ready for peace. ”

Amid the discussion, the planned signature of an agreement between the United States and Ukraine on rare minerals did not happen, according to a White House press officer. The agreement that would be signed would allow the United States to have access resources from the Ukrainian underground, as required by Trump, in compensation for military and financial aid disbursed in the last three years (with AP)
