FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Wednesday that the 2026 World Cup final, scheduled for Metlife Stadium, outside New York, will have a “break show”, along the Super Bowl.
“I can confirm the first show in the break of the FIFA World Cup final in New York/New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen. It will be a historic moment for the World Cup and a show worthy of the largest sporting event in the world,” infantile wrote in his Instagram account after an convention with FIFA’s business and media partners in Dallas, Texas.
“We also discussed how FIFA will take care of Times Square on the last weekend of the 2026 World Cup, during the third place and the final,” added the leader.
“I would like to thank Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of Coldplay, who will work with us to finalize the list of artists who will perform during the interval show, as well as Times Square,” said Infantino.
In September 2024, in New York, when FIFA revealed the stadiums selected for the Club World Cup that will be played in the middle of this year, Gianni Infantino had already talked about an unprecedented show in the tour of the tournament.
However, it remains to clarify the issue as to the terms and duration of these “shows” announced, as the break of a football game can not last more than 15 minutes, much less than the Super Bowl final.
The next World Cup will be organized together by United States, Canada and Mexico, from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
