President Donald Trump harshly criticized Chips and Science Act, a comprehensive law of $ 280 billion, passed during the Biden government to boost domestic production of semiconductor.
“Your act chips is a horrible thing. We give hundreds of billions of dollars (to semiconductor manufacturers) and that means nothing. They take our money and don’t spend it, ”said the president, arguing that chip manufacturers didn’t want to pay tariffs.
The criticism took place during his speech to the US Congress, which began on Tuesday night (4).
“You should get rid of the Act chips and whatever is left, you should use it to reduce the debt or any other reason you want,” Trump added.
Mayor Mike Johnson rose to applaud.
The ACT chips was approved with bipartisan majorities in 2022.
