Project intends to make mandatory black boxes on airplanes

Equipment will have to be installed in all aircraft in the country, private or commercial, if the measure is approved

In the House of Representatives a bill that seeks to expand air safety measures in Brazil. The PL, presented by the deputy (União Brasil-SP), proposes changes in to make the installation of voice recording equipment and flight data on all aircraft, whether intended for commercial or private flights.

According to the congressman, these devices-popularly known as “black boxes”-are fundamental for investigating air incidents. “In addition to helping to identify the causes of accidents, recorders provide valuable information that contributes to preventive actions and research -oriented research, avoiding future tragedies.”declared Soares by justifying the proposal.

Next Steps

The project is on a conclusive basis and will be analyzed by the Traffic and Transport and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship committees. To become law, it will have to be passed by the House and the Senate.

Accidental

Brazil 10 deaths from air accidents in 2025. All planes involved in fatal occurrences in the year were small and performed private or agricultural transportation activities. In all, there were 21 accidents in the first 38 days of the year.
