Offensive seems to collapse the northern part of the Russian territory controlled by Ukraine, and Kiev’s retreat coincides with the suspension on the part of the USA, the sharing of confidential information with Ukraine
A Russian attack is underway to recover the areas of the Kursk region that Ukraine occupied during an offensive in August last year.
According to Reuters, which cites two Russian military bloggers, some special forces of Moscow have traveled several kilometers inside an unusable pipeline to try to surprise the Ukrainian troops by the back in Sudzha, the largest Russian village dominated by Kiev forces.
Yuri Podilyaka, one of the bloggers, states that Russian soldiers spent several days in the pipeline before attacking the Ukrainian forces.
Ukraine’s staff, quoted by the agency, confirms this attempt at attack, but ensures that Ukraine’s aerotransported assault forces managed to locate the Russians, having responded with attacks by rockets, artillery and drones, which eliminated Moscow troops.
However, geolocalized images and videos prove that the Russian forces have taken several villages in Kursk: Novaya Sorochina, northwest of Sudzha, Pravda and Ivashkovshyi, north of Sudzha, as well as the localities of Malaya Loknya and Lebedevka.
The ISW even states that Russian troops have advanced in Sudzha and are trying to enter the city center, having crossed to the western bank of the Sudzha River at least one point.
In this advance, says the ISW, the Russian forces had the support of the North Korean troops. According to the Ukrainian channel Suspilne, which cites Ukrainian sources, there are up to two North Korean battalions to work in the Sudzha area, which look better trained and “are acting more coherently.”
As CNN Internacional explains, Ukrainian forces are being heavily pressured by the approximately 12,000 North Koreans who, according to Ukrainian authorities, arrived in Kursk to reinforce Russian firepower, which is a significant setback for Ukrainians, who hoped that it would be a exchange coin in Saudi Arabia peace negotiations.
This attack seems to collapse the northern part of the Ukraine -controlled Russian territory, and Kiev’s retreat coincides with the suspension of the US, the sharing of confidential information with Ukraine, although there is no proven correlation at this time.
A clarification published on Facebook this Monday, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi denied any about Kiev forces in Kursk.
“There is currently no threat of siege of our units in the Kursk region. The units are taking timely measures to maneuver for favorable defensive positions, ”wrote Syrskyi.
The leader of the Ukrainian troops says the situation is under control, and points out that some of the villages mentioned by the “Russian propagandists” no longer exist – “were destroyed by the aggressor’s fire.”
“Despite the involvement of a significant number of Russian troops in the offensive, reinforced by the North Korean infantry, the enemy suffers significant losses in terms of staff and equipment. In the Plekhove area alone, the enemy lost an infantry battalion in four days of fighting, ”said Syrskyi.
