An alarming survey of the (CNJ) revealed a significant increase in the judgments of cases in Brazil. According to the data released, there was a 225% growth in judgments between 2020 and 2024. In 2020, 3,375 cases were tried, while in 2024 this number jumped to 10,991. These data are part of the panel “Violence against Women”, released on Tuesday (11) and now accessible to the public.

In addition to the increase in femicide judgments, the CNJ also registered growth in the new cases judged, from 3,500 by 2020 to 8,400 in 2024. The number of requests for protective measures is also worrying, with over 800,000 requests for protective measures last year. Of these, the Brazilian judiciary granted 582,100 measures. A positive point is the reduction in the average response time for the measurement of the measure, which fell from 16 days by 2020 to only 5 days by 2024, which can be crucial in risk situations.
