Georgia’s ex-President Saakashwili sentenced to nine years in prison


On Wednesday, a Georgian court sentenced the former president of the country, Micheil Saakashschwili, for nine years of prison, after he had found it guilty of embezzlement, reports the Interpress news agency. Saakaschwili, who was president from 2004 to 2013, was sentenced to six years in prison for abuse of power after his return to Georgia in 2021.
