Mexico’s Club León has been excluded from the Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States, between June 14 and July 13, due to multiprurity rules, FIFA announced Friday.
The emblem in which former sportsman James Rodríguez and former player of Famalicão and Vitória de Setúbal Jhonder Cadiz belongs to the same group of investors as Mexicans Pachuca, something that goes against the tournament rules, with the club replaced to be nominated later.
“According to Article 10, paragraph 4 of the FIFA 2025 Club World Championship Regulation, FIFA has decided not to admit Club León in the competition and announce the club that will replace him in due course,” read the statement.
Club León was inserted in Group D, with the English of Chelsea, the Brazilians from Flamengo and the tunisinos of the Tunis Esperánce.
FC Porto is integrated in Group A, with Palmeiras, from Abel Ferreira, Inter Miami, by Lionel Messi, and Al Ahly, while Benfica will face Boca Juniors, Auckland City and Bayern Munich.
