The minister (communications) states that Brazil goes from the country with the internet and open wi-fi until 2026, in a calculation that takes into account the progress of the program, launched in September 2023.
The evaluation was made after the minister receives data showing that 72.8 thousand school units already have the service, which represents more than 52% of the total. The ministry hired last year the connection of 32,500 schools, while this year, foresees a contract to another 27,500 units. The others will receive broadband internet and Wi-Fi open by the end of 2026.
“We will be able to reach this goal determined by the president, in partnership with the minister [Educação]and I’m sure it will have a lot of impact on the life of the population, as it will improve the quality of education and promote digital inclusion, especially for poorest families, “said the minister.
The program provides for a total investment of R $ 8.8 billion, being R $ 6.5 billion from the Ministry of Communications and R $ 2.3 billion from MEC.
