The traditional Mass of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Catholic Church in Sena Madureira, held on Sunday morning (23) had a remarkable moment: the life testimony of former Mayor Nilson Areal, a well-known figure in the Iaco Valley.

In recent months, Nilson had been having cancer treatment and has undergone six sections of chemotherapy. However, when using the church microphone today, he said he is healed. “I want to thank God and everyone who prayed. Everyone knows that I was affected by cancer and the days were not easy. If it wasn’t for faith, prayer, good vibrations, perhaps it was not here. For the honor and glory of God, my chemotherapy was suspended. For doctors, I am oncologically controlled,” he said.
Nilson reported that the suffering was large, especially due to the medicines used in chemotherapy. “There were six chemotherapies, a crazy medicine that invades our body, but it is necessary. Many times, I prayed alone, cried alone, but I found the strength necessary to continue,” he added.
Nilson Areal has a remarkable historic in Sena Madureira politics. Son of the eternal teacher Narcy Areal (in memory), he was a state deputy and mayor of Sena for two terms.
