According to a White House statement, USha Vance’s second lady’s lady travels this week to Granelândia to visit historical places and watch the Avannaata Qimussersu, the traditional sled dog race.
The delegation is part of United States National Security Counselor Mike Waltz and US Vice President Jd Vance’s wife, Usha Vance.
“It must be stressed that our integrity and our democracy must be respected without any external interference,” said Mute Egede, head of the autonomous government still in office.
In the same statement widespread by social networks, Egede stresses that no official meeting will be held between local authorities and members of the US delegation.
Contacts with the United States only after training of new government
In this sense, Egede said the US administration was informed that formal contacts can only be made after the formation of a new government following recent legislative elections in the autonomous territory.
Since the defeat of the Green Party (left) in the legislative elections, Mute Egede is Granelândia’s interim leader to the formation of a new executive.
The successor, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, leader of the center-right party who won the elections, recently described Donald Trump’s comments about Granelândia’s future annexation as inappropriate.
In the middle of this month, Donald Trump reiterated that annexation by the United States would eventually happen, arguing that it is a movement related to what called international security.
“We must remain united and express ourselves against this unacceptable treatment,” said Granelândia Prime Minister, referring to Washington’s attitude.
Granelândia has a strategic importance due to location as it is on the shortest route between the United States and Russia, as well as natural riches.
Main parties favorable to independence of the territory
Although all main parties of Grolândia are favorable to the independence of the territory no local political formation supports the connection to the United States.
According to a US presidency statement, USha Vance, accompanied by his son, as well as members of the United States delegation will visit historical sites and watch the Avannaata Qimussersu, the traditional Granelândia sleigh dog race.
“Mrs. Vance and the delegation are enthusiastic about watching this race and celebrating the culture and unity of Groelândia,” says the same statement.
On Sunday, Denmark’s chief executive, Mette Frederiksen, said the visit of Usha Vance could not be seen in isolation from the public statements that were made by Donald Trump.
