Initially, the journalist believed to be a match or someone trying to get information
US National Security Counselor Mike Waltz accidentally added The Atlantic magazine editor to a secret group in the Signal application, in which the preparations for attacks against the Houthis rebels were being discussed.
The group, called “Housei PC Small Group”, was highly restricted. Members were some of the most important faces of the US administration, including Vice President Jd Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Special East envoy, Steve Wikoff, National Stephen Miller National Security Counselor and Mike Waltz National Security Counselor.
Initially, journalist Jeffrey Goldberg believed that this was a match or someone trying to get information, but over time was the certainty that the group was, in fact, real. For three days a discussion was taken between several members of the Executive about the need to advance with the mission being prepared. The Americans were about to launch a military operation against Houthis targets in Yemen.
“He had strong doubts that this group was real because it could not believe that the US National Security Leadership would communicate through the significant signal plans. It could not believe that the president’s national security advisor was so reckless as to include The Atlantic editor in such discussions with high US employees, including the vice president,” writes editor Jeffrey Goldberg.
