Countries that buy products will be taxed by 25% on US transactions; enters into force on April 2
United States President Donald Trump (Republican) announced on Monday (24.mar.2025) that will apply a 25% tariff against countries that buy gas or oil from Venezuela. The fee will be charged from April 2 on commercial transactions with the US.
In the Social Truth, Trump stated that the measure will be applied because Venezuela intentionally sent “Tens of thousands of criminals”including “Assassins and people of a violent nature”to the country.
“In addition, Venezuela has been very hostile to the United States and the freedoms we defend”said the American leader.
According to the president, some of the Venezuelan criminals sent to the US were members of the Aragua Tren gang. They on March 16. Trump called the 1978 foreign enemies law to deport the Venezuelans.
The criminals were sent to CECOT (Terrorism Control Center) in El Salvador, a maximum security megaprinity for criminals considered terrorist.
