Cut the stem obliquely
Most of the florists advise to cut the stems of flowers at an angle. But this is not true for daffodils that we rank among the bulbous flowers with very soft stems, and they are best cut horizontally, or straight. The water will be able to absorb just the soft, green part of the stem. No or minimal cut angle will help support the soft stem so that it remains upright as long as possible. And that’s what we care about.
Cut the stems in the length of two three centimeters with sharp scissors. Or by the garden. Not only once, but every few days. This is the only way to keep the daffodils fresh for a long time.
Cold water
Another trick also helps – tap the water of narcissance with cold to icy. Most onion flowers bloom when there are still winter temperatures, both air and soil. They are used to it and they will do better. Change the water regularly, even daily. This is a way to get rid of the accumulation of bacteria.
It also depends on where you can get a vase with daffodils at home. Try at least as far away from the radiators, because they will cause quick drying.
How to cut the daffodil
If you have the opportunity to cut the daffodils yourself or even from your own garden, do it, if possible, in the morning. And choose those that the buds are just beginning to color. It is also best to find the heads of flowers bent at an angle of 90 degrees from the stem. For those flowers that broke up and have more flowers on one stem, cut such a daffodil where one of the flowers is already open. Cut the stems at the soil level. Do not discard any leaves, because these onions give a nutrient supply.
Attention! There are known cases where people have a rash after cutting daffodils. So if your skin is more sensitive, don’t forget the gloves. And if you don’t have them at hand, we advise you not to forget to wash your hands.
