In an interview with the state newspaper Tin Tức, Nguyễn Xuân Anh, director of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Institute of Geophysics, said tremors were felt at 1:20 pm (local time) and had a significant impact on higher buildings.
So far, between Myanmar and Thailand, and there are reports of collapsed structures in Mandalay and Bangcoc. It is estimated that the number of victims may increase in the coming hours with the advancement of rescue operations.
The Presidency of the Republic has not yet commented on if Lula had to leave any place as a precaution. The official agenda of the visit, which included meetings with the president of Vietnam, to Lam, and other authorities, was maintained.
