The 2025 edition of the Brazilian Championship began this Saturday (29) with two teams from São Paulo in the field. Playing at home, Sao Paulo was in a goalless draw with Sport, while rookie Mirassol lost to Cruzeiro in Mineirão.
In a match with almost 38,000 fans in the stands of Morumbi, Sao Paulo had the chance to open the scoring just after two minutes, after Luciano was overthrown inside the large area. Striker Calleri went to the penalty hit, but isolated over the goal defended by Caíque França.
“I’m sure we will make better games and have better results,” said midfielder Luiz Gustavo, who has not played for Sao Paulo since mid-January, when he fractured his foot in a preseason match against Cruzeiro in the United States.
