Haiti/Cap Haitien – Armed gang members attacked a prison in the Caribbean state of Haiti and freed numerous prisoners. There were initially no official information about the exact number of occupants that escaped in the central city of Mirebalais on Monday. According to media reports, more than 500 detained managed to escape. Haitis national police announced the posting of several units to the city to support the local police against gang violence.
