Previously, it was not possible to have the diminutive names or home names enrolled in the registry book. You wouldn’t come with the MICE instead of Marie. Likewise with Olda instead of Oldřich. But with the first day of January last year there were changes. Specifically, if you were interested in the details and needed to remove from jurisdiction, it is Act No. 414/2023 Coll., Which since 1 January 2024 changes and regulates Act No. 301/2000 Coll. About registers, name and surname. In terms of name, seek a specific paragraph of Section 62 (1), which newly says that the name of the decorative and domestic name can be written in the register book, which until then has been explicitly prohibited.

The rules of creating homemade and diminished names
The Department of the General Administration of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic came up with clear rules and a table of pattern, according to which the suffix are homely and diminished names. One table for male names, another for a female. In male we give an example on the suffixes y, ánek, es. So it is not a problem to name your child Tony, Fanánek and Mates. For women, we chose an example of the extension of Ule, Unka, Ošek. Do you want to name Jitule, Barunka or Hanek? There is no problem, go with it to a citizen. Name garbled? It’s on the edge
In short, the thing is that the register already includes various diminutives, but what the registrar or registrar refuses to you is the name of the name. Although I believe that an official could be argued, because the boundaries between diminutives and homely names and the garbled ones, it is very thin and it is not possible to clearly define this limit. So it is possible that you will “talk” the registrars, but prepare for a difficult mission, because the register can request an expert opinion.
The Ministry of the Interior does not intend to create a kind of grounded list of homely and diminished names and justifies the fact that new ones are constantly being created, moreover freely and without restrictions.
What you will not continue to do with the registers will be a possible attempt to write a male name for the girl and vice versa except those with the same shape for both sexes as René or Alex. And if parents, by some strange chance, think of their second child as the first, they would not succeed. So if their firstborn lives and both children have the same parents.
You will not succeed with nicknames or with anagrams, even if you steadily say that such climbing and levap are homely names. Levap – Pavel backwards is an example of anagram.
A nerd or vodka? Such a name will not pass
And what is not to be at all, it is to name a child named with the context of insult, vulgarism, discrimination or brand of some product. The registrar therefore rejects the name of the stupid or vodka with regard to the child’s welfare.
