O Supreme Federal Court (STF) resumes, this Thursday (3), the judgment of the so-called “ADPF of the slums”.
A Arguity of Fundamental Precept (ADPF) deals with the lethality of police operations no Rio de Janeiro. At the last session in February, the rapporteur, Minister Edson Fachin, was the only one to vote.
In his demonstration, Fachin placed himself in favor of partially accepting a plan presented by the State Government to combat police violence and argued that the use of force must be progressive.
Fachin, such as use of camera in uniforms, audio and video recording in vehicles and helicopter use restrictions.
The theme was expected to return to the Plenary last week, but the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven others in the first class about the attempted coup d’état hindered the calendar.
The president of the court, Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, said he tries to take a position on consensus of all 11 magistrates. For this, there are internal meetings for alignment and negotiations between the magistrates.
“We are all here talking, we hear a lot of people, to produce a vote of consensus and without divergent votes to give a clear message that we are giving importance to the theme of public safety,” he said last week.
Barroso stressed the concern with the protection of the entire population, from rich neighborhoods to the peripheries. “We have immense concern for police lethality and innocent victims that are produced in poor communities.”
“We need to organize a recovery plan, is one of the largest human rights violations in the country. We need to involve the Federal Police to investigate crimes, have intelligence work, go after the money that finances criminal activities, giving transparency to police activity,” he said.
“All of these items in a 11 -member court, which have different worldviews,” he added.
