The Administration student of the Brazilian Institute of Education (IDP), in Brasilia, Leonardo Avila, caused revolt after publishing in his social network a video in which he states that there are only “slums” enrolled in the institution. With 234,000 followers on its profile, the video was erased given the negative repercussion.

Leonardo is a digital influencer, son of the president of the Sustainable and Strategic Economic Development Council of DF (Codese-D), Leonardo Oliveira de Ávila, and studies at the North Wing campus of IDP.

In the video, he declares that he has changed an educational institution many times and, although he was authorized by his mother to change once again, was bad to change once again. “I’ve changed college three times and apparently I don’t like the people or the colleges I do,” he said.

“It’s because the people, at least in my college, is not just poor money, they are poor of everything, understand? The people still say, ‘Wow, Leo, but their college is expensive.’ They are expensive, but anyone gets a way to pay here, because there is only slum,” he moved.

Leonardo, smiling, retracted himself, saying that he should not have referred to the institution as he did and said he did “a video at a moment that was shaken and sad with college.” “I’m not happy there, but it’s no reason for such content.”

According to him, the lines were recorded after an argument with a colleague who would have been motivated by “non -acceptance of himself.”

“I felt very bad when I returned to college, not only because people don’t accept me, but also because I saw my friends and the people who like me from college and outside, I came back to my city, and I saw that people can’t be safe with themselves,” he said.

A CNN Contact IDP, which has among its founders the Minister of the Supreme Court (STF), Gilmar Mendes, and the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, and the institution regretted the episode and stated that “does not represent the institutional view.”

The academic director of the educational institution, Atalá Correia, said that, by regulation, all students and teachers must maintain ethical postures. “Whenever there is a complaint, the parties involved, with dialogue, contradictory and broad defense. A commission of three teachers evaluates the situation and may suggest three sanctions: warning, suspension or expulsion,” he explained.

“For the case of the student in question, the procedure has started, it is being notified and we await his response. We treat the topics taken to ethical procedures confidential so that there is no improper exposure of the students. IDP repudiates all form of prejudice. We have active diversity measures for the faculty and student. We are proud of our scholars.
