The Government (PT) will be charged by the (homeless rural workers movement) during the actions of the so -called Red April due to the slow in.

It will also be in the sights of the ruralist bench, which articulates in to try to reverse eight acts (decrees and ordinances, for example) of petista management in response to the movement.

The scenario is designed weeks after Lula made the first visit to a MST settlement in its current term and puts it again between the pressure of the movement – the left social base of the left and that supported it in the 2022 elections – and the Agro – a large part of the current president and that can impose another defeat on Congress.

A Sheet He questioned the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Incra (National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform) about how many families have been settled from 2023 until now and what is the purpose of the set of measures issued since the beginning of petista management.

The ministry stated that agrarian reform issues are the responsibility of Incra – which is subordinate to the folder. The agency, in turn, did not respond.

Traditionally, in April the MST intensifies not only invasions, but highway blocks, protests, family registration efforts and other actions – which should be repeated in 2025.

The month was chosen because, on April 17, 1996, it occurred when the Military Police murdered 19 militants of the movement and left 69 others injured during a protest – until today, only 2 police officers of 155 involved were convicted.

For 2025, the chosen motto was “occupying for food Brazil”. There is a forecast of actions in the 26 states and the Federal District, focusing on land conducive to food production.

The demonstrations take place amid the discontent of the movement with Lula’s third term and the progress of the agrarian reform.

According to the MST, when the petista took over the presidency, about 65 thousand families of the movement registered by Incra waited at camps to be seated.

“The progress is far short of the accumulated demand in the last ten years, since the impeachment of [ex-presidente] Dilma Rousseff, passing through the Temer government and the Bolsonaro period, “says José Damasceno of the MST National Directorate.

In the third year of the term, this liability grew, he said, to about 100,000. If considered other groups that work in the cause, the projection would rise to 140 thousand.

“Agrarian reform needs to leave the ICU. There is a discontent of our base, for obvious reasons: the process has not advanced. Has camped families for 30 years that they continue to wait for the long -awaited land reform,” he says.

According to him, the movement also seeks to expand the forms of financing for the family and sustainable, aiming at the production of food to combat hunger in the country through the Plan Safra, the Food Acquisition Program and the National School Feeding Program, for example.

Already the ruralist bench wants to retaliate in congressional rules created in the Lula administration and who, in the opinion of the group, serve to benefit land invasions and reduce legal certainty in the countryside.

One of the goals is to revoke the Terra da Gente program, in a wave of the petista to the MST.

At the time, the MST carried out actions in 11 Brazilian states, with more than 20,000 families mobilized, and Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who headed Incra in Alagoas.

The group criticizes the program for giving the executive too much power in land allocation. It also wants to overthrow a March decree that allows the government to expropriate properties for use in the land of people, without notice and including average properties – when the mechanism should be used for small.

“[São] serious problems that we encountered […] Measures that the government has adopted to go over the legislation, with decrees, division of ministries, transfers of responsibilities and movement financing. We were able to pull the whole thread, “says the president of the Parliamentary Front of Agriculture, Pedro Lupion (PP-PR).

The objective is to include the revocation of all these measures in a project on land regularization already in progress, reported by Lupion.

According to the deputy, the bench also intends to advance with the so-called anti-MST package, set of proposals gathered after the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) that aimed the group in 2023 and aims to reduce its action power and even frame it as a terrorist organization.
