Holiday in China should move 84.5 million people

Number equals almost 40% of the population of Brazil; estimate is from the Chinese state -owned company that operates rail transport in the country

China Railway – Chinese state that operates the passenger and cargo rail system in the country – estimates that Chinese railway trains should move around 84.5 million people For the Qingming festival, a holiday focused on the memory of the dead. It is the equivalent of All Souls’ Day, on November 2 in Brazil.

China Railway’s estimate shows that the holiday will move the equivalent of about 40% of the Brazilian population, or almost 2 states of Sao Paulo, from April 3 to 7. The 3 -day festival starts this Friday (4.br.2025) and extends until Sunday (6.abr).

Qinming is one of 7 national holidays in China. In addition to a period for the memory and honor of their ancestors, the date is also related to early spring in the country. According to (acronym for Chinese language institute), the festival has been celebrated for over 2,500 years.

The Chinese perform a very characteristic ritual during the festival. Families gather to clean the tombs of their ancestors. They are also offered food, incense and present to the dead.

After cleaning the tombs – the most solemn part of the festival – the rest of the day is reserved for family tours and celebrations that can include music and dance in some regions of the country.
