In an interview with CNN This Thursday (3), the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil-GO), said that, in a “first moment”, the northeast states will be “priority” of their pre-campaign for the presidential dispute of 2026.
“I will give priority to the northeast states at first and then travel to other states and then I will undoubtedly go to the southern and southeastern region of the country,” said Caiado.
Asked about choosing Bahia to launch his pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic, which will take place this Friday (4) in Salvador, he stated that he chose the Bahian state for “a very close relationship with Bahia, not only with the political class but also with the style of the Bahian people.”
During the interview, Caiado also relativized the need to and stressed that a candidate needs to have the courage to take over the executive’s head.
“I already have a big experience in election campaigns, so this thesis that looks needs to have the sponsorship of ‘A’ and ‘B’, that’s why I’ve left in advance to do what a campaign needs, to do the previews,” he began.
“A candidate can not just be a vest pocket candidate or nobody candidate for anyone. Candidate has to be the one who has preparation, moral, intellectual independence and the courage to assume the presidency of the Republic, propose and have the ability to make renovations, to make Brazil rescue presidentialism, which today is a complete disorder,” he added.
