The opposition in the House decided to seek individual support from deputies for the request for urgent project that amnesty convicted by January 8. PL leader Sostenes Cavalcante (RJ) said on Thursday (3) that the change seeks to circumvent the guidance of the president of the house, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), so that leaders would not sign the application.

“Since President Hugo Motta is asking the leaders not to sign the urgent request, we started yesterday to make individual signatures. At this point, we already have 163 individual signatures. It takes 257,” he said in an interview with journalists after leaders’ college meeting.

Despite his speech, Sostenes said Motta follows a “ally” of the PL. The intention of the bench is to gather the necessary support-257 signatures, the absolute majority of the House-until next Thursday (10) and then the request is based on the plenary. Before,.

In the PT leader’s view, Lindbergh Farias (RJ), the amnesty project was “defeated” this week, as was the obstruction movement. In recent days, the opposition has tried to obstruct voting in the Plenary and has canceled commission meetings commanded by PL deputies. The intention was to press Hugo Motta to advance the amnesty project.

“They [oposição] They have to find a speech. They spent the whole week saying that they were going to present this, present the names, present the application, in fact they did not present. This week this amnesty thesis was defeated here […] The amnesty was defeated and the obstruction was defeated. The obstruction had no votes, ”said Lindbergh.

The governing bench is against the amnesty’s proposal, while the opposition defends the project and bets on an expansion of forgiveness to benefit former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), which is ineligible until 2030.

According to the opposition leader, Deputy Zucco (PL-RS), the goal is to articulate support to guide the amnesty in April. The group rejects the idea of creating a special committee to analyze the proposal and insists on trying to take the text to vote directly in the plenary.

Obstruction

According to Sostenes Cavalcante, the PL will maintain a “responsible obstruction”, seeking to extend the voting in the plenary. The PL has the largest bench in the house, with 92 deputies. Obstruction is a regimental mechanism that aims to delay or prevent the voting of certain projects.

“Our obstruction is not irresponsible with the house, so we are slowly voting on matters of importance to the country, but we will continue our responsible obstruction until President Hugo Motta has a comfort to decide on the release of leaders to sign,” said Gostenes.
