The United States faced devastating tornadoes that left more than 400,000 households without electricity. Meteorologists warn of other disasters.
The tornadoes swept through the vast area of the central and southern part of the United States on Wednesday, destroying houses, businesses, refuting trees and throwing power lines. The National Meteorological Service (NWS) stated that at least 15 reports of tornadoes in at least four countries were recorded by Wednesday’s late evening, TASR writes, according to Reuters report.
In Kentucky and Arkansas, eight people have suffered injuries, one person in a critical condition, the local authorities said. On Wednesday evening, the Governor of Arkansas Sarah Huckababee Sanders said the emergency state throughout the state.
According to the forecasts, strong storms will continue for several days, specified the NWS and can cause catastrophic consequences and record precipitation. NWs released on Wednesday warnings of tornadoes and torn floods for parts of Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Oklahoma.
Electricity outages
The city of Nevada also hit a tornado in Missouri. The State Agency for Crisis Management on social networks wrote that it has caused “major damage to several businesses and destroyed the columns of power lines”.
According to Poweroutage, there were more than 400,000 subscribers in a storm affected without electricity.
