The leader of the French far -right, condemned, today denounced a “political decision”, speaking to supporters at a rally held in Paris.
Lepen was found guilty of abuse of public resources and was sentenced Monday to four years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros. At the same time, it was deprived, with immediate effect, the right to be elected for a five -year period, which means that it will not be a candidate in the 2027 presidential election.
The Paris Court of Appeal has to decide until the summer of 2026 on Lepen’s fate, three times a candidate in the presidential election, considered a favorite for 2027.
“This is not a legal decision, it is a political decision,” which “not only violates the rule of law, but also the state of the Republic,” said the leader of the far -right National Alarm (RN), speaking in front of the Mansion of the Apostle, the emblematic monument of the French.
Many of Lepen’s supporters held French flags.
“We do not ask to be above the law, but not at a level lower than the law,” he said, contradicting any “spirit of rebellion”.
RN President Zordan Bardela denounced a “nasty and activist” court ruling, however, stressing that he does not want to “depreciate all judges”.
Along with the gathering of the National Alarm, rallies are held from leftist parties, disobedient France and ecologists.
