Journalist and poet Wilson Augusto Figueiredo died on Sunday (20.br.2025), at 100, in Rio. The cause of death was not informed.
He was born on July 29, 1924 in the municipality of Castelo (ES). He spent his youth in Belo Horizonte (MG), where he began his trajectory in journalism at the age of 20.
In 1957, to Rio. He worked in several newspapers and magazines until he reached the Jornal do Brasilwhere he worked for 45 years in various functions: editorialist, writer, columnist and political commentator.
Wilson worked with names such as Antonio Callado, Carlos Castello Branco, Ferreira Gullar, Zózimo Barroso do Amaral, Alberto Dines and Odilo Costa Filho. In the carioca print, he participated in the graphic and editorial reform.
He was the 1st journalist to anticipate the resignation of then President Jânio Quadros, in 1961.
Figueiredo worked on other vehicles: Southern agencyof the associated diaries, Mines, The newspaper e Last hour. In magazines, acted in Headline by Illustrated worldedited by DIARY OF NEWS.
At 80, he joined the FSB Communication Agency team. He played a relevant role in the construction of communication strategies and crisis management.

His professional career was immortalized in the biography “And life continues: Wilson Figueiredo’s professional trajectory”launched in 2011 by Editora Ouro about Azul, to mark the 30th anniversary of FSB Comunicação.
The work, written in partnership with Moacyr Andrade, brings together letters and texts from collaborators who highlight Figueiredo’s contributions throughout his career.
