The Swedish brand H&M announced on Tuesday, 22, that will open another store in Brazil, in Morumbi Shopping, West Zone of São Paulo. The inauguration should take place in the second half of this year. The address will be the third in São Paulo, which will also have units at Shopping Iguatemi, Gardens, and Shopping Anália Franco, in the East Zone. The brand also announced a new unit at Parque Dom Pedro mall in Campinas (SP).
In a statement, Joaquim Pereira, sales manager of H&M Brasil, said that all units will be opened this year, without specifying the dates. “We are extremely excited to expand the presence of H&M in São Paulo with our new store at Morumbi Shopping. This moment marks an important step to bring our high quality and sustainable fashionistas to even more Brazilian consumers – all for the best price,” says the executive.
Expired since last year, the confirmation of the arrival of H&M to Brazil only took place on March 27 this year, the date of publication of the brand’s sustainability report.
Closing of stores
The strategy of opening stores in Brazil is part of an H&M expansion plan for other markets. In the results report of the first quarter of 2025 (which accounts for the period from December 1, 2024 to 28 February this year), the Swedish company indicates that its net sales increased 3%. The document also indicates that 120 stores were closed in the period and, in the liquid balance (openings and closures), 40 ceased to operate.
“With four inaugurations planned in 2025, we are confident that H&M’s unique value proposal will resonate tightly in the Brazilian market. Our commitment of course: growing in a way that connects both physically and digitally connecting customers as we continue to deliver an inspiring and affordable buying experience,” says Joaquim Pereira in a statement released by the company.
Performance in Latin America
The first H&M store in Latin America opened in 2012 in Mexico. Then came Panama (2021), Costa Rica (2022) and the Dominican Republic (2024).
Continues after advertising
Chile was the first address in South America to receive a brand store in 2013, and today has 30 physical addresses and also online presence. Other countries in the region where the brand is present are Peru, with open store in 2015, and Uruguay, with operation since 2018.
The H&M report announces that the brand will also open, still in 2025, its first store in El Salvador. Neighboring Brazil, Paraguay will house a brand store in 2026.
