The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) reported on Tuesday (22) that it will request the revocation of the Supreme Court (STF) measure that barred the entry of cell phones in the plenary of the First Class during the trial of core 2 of the coup plot.

In a press release, the president of the OAB, Beto Simonetti, said he received the measure with surprise and irresignation and said he will request the revocation of the ban on the president of the first class, Minister Cristiano Zanin.
“The OAB recognizes the importance of security and order in judgments. However, the use of audio and video recording devices in public sessions is supported by law and constitutes a prerogative of law, and cannot be restricted without clear and specific legal foundation. Any excesses must be determined with individualized accountability, without prejudice to institutional guarantees,” said the president.
The Supreme Court reported that the measure was taken after breaking the prohibition of image recording within the plenary during the judgment of Nucleus 1, held last month, when former President Jair Bolsonaro and other investigated became defendants.

In addition, Felipe Martins, former Bolsonaro international affairs advisor, one of the defendants of Center 2, was prohibited by Minister Alexandre de Moraes to be filmed or photographed during the trial.

The group is composed of six accused, all accused of organizing actions to “support Bolsonaro’s illegitimate permanence” in power in 2022.
