Marina is summoned to explain participation in indigenous act

Agriculture Commission wants to understand if the minister supported protesters who tried to invade Congress on April 10

The Commission of Agriculture, Livestock, Supply and Rural Development approved this Wednesday (23.ab.2025) an application for the convening of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change ,.

The collegiate wants to know whether or not there was a support from Marina to the acts of the indigenous people in Brasilia on April 10, when protesters conflicted with local police for trying to invade a barricade congress zone by the authorities.

The call request also asks Marina Silva to talk about other topics. They are:

  • Burning records;
  • LEGAL AMAZON RECORD DEGRADATION;
  • fines “Excessive” applied by Ibama.

The plaintiff, the deputy (PL-MS), states that the facts cited in the call are “Severe Facts” that the House needs to oversee.

“The minister needs to come to this Commission to provide proper clarification to the Brazilian population. They are serious facts, which directly impact agricultural production and put in check the very performance of the Ministry of the Environment. The legislature has a duty to oversee.”says Rodolfo Nogueira.

Understand the attempted invasion

Police on April 10 a group of indigenous people protesting in front of the National Congress in Brasilia. The natives tried to climb the legislature ramp, but were prevented with tear gas and bombs of moral effect.

According to Power360, 3 people were attended by the House’s medical emergency. The deputy (PSOL-MG) was while participating in the act.

Legislative police stated that the confusion settled after indigenous people advancing against the installed fences so that protesters would not occupy the region closest to Congress. The authorities asked to retreat, which would not have been answered.

Increased burning

The area devastated by burning in Brazil 79% in 2024 compared to 2023, according to data from the fire monitor, Mapbiomas. 30,867,676 hectares last year were burned – an area larger than the entire territory of Italy.
