The National Elections Commission (CNE) denied this Thursday to have received any request for the opinion of the rise on this Friday, April 25, from a demonstration by Martim Moniz, in Lisbon, to which the PSP gave negative opinion.
“The National Election Commission has not received no request for opinions on demonstrations on tomorrow,” he said in response to Lusa, the body’s official source.
The CNE, however, advanced to Lusa that no opinion issued, nor did it provide any clarification on the matter.
Regarding the possibility of a manifestation called by a political party to be prohibited or its altered path, it clarified that “it is not for the CNE to pronounce on the circumstances of time, place and way that the exercise of that right is processed.”
The president of Raça-Te, Rui Fonseca and Castro, guaranteed this Thursday in a video shared on social networks that the party will speak on April 25 at Martim Moniz, in Lisbon, even though there is a negative opinion of the PSP that the Lisbon City Council has already said it would validate.
“We tomorrow, from 3 pm, will all be at Martim Moniz for a Portuguese family party for a celebration of Portuguese, but especially for a demonstration of civility and brotherhood,” said the former judge, in a video published by 14:00 in public channels of erect and has been shared by far-right movements, such as 1143.
In the message, the leader of Raud-Te, previous National Renewing Party (PNR), argued that, because it is “an event organized by a political party” inserted in the campaign for the May 18 legislative elections, “cannot be forbidden.”
Rui Fonseca and Castro added that, in this context, the party had already asked “an opinion to the National Elections Commission” and that it had allowed the event to be held as “is configured”.
