Moscow says he is “ready for an agreement” with the US on Ukraine, but there are still points for “polishing”

Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said tonight that Kremlin is “ready to reach an agreement” with the US administration on Ukraine, although he has indicated that there are still elements to refine.

“The President’s statement (Donald Trump) mentions an agreement and we are willing to reach an agreement, but there are still some specific points, elements of this agreement that must refine, and we are occupied exactly with this process,” he said during an interview granted to the American television network CBS News, in which he has not given more details.

The head of Russian diplomacy has pointed out that “the president of the United States believes, and I think that we are rightly advancing in the right direction” about the conversations for the end of the conflict in Ukraine. “In the first place, because President Trump is probably the only leader in the Earth who recognized the need to address the deep causes of this situation. When he said it was a great mistake to put Ukraine in NATO, and that this was an error of the Biden administration, and he wants to rectify it,” he explained.

On the attack that on Thursday caused 12 dead in kyiv and was criticized by Trump, Lavrov has limited himself to saying that Russians only attack “military objectives or civil locations used by the military”, something that Putin has reiterated many times. (EP)
