Former stage assistant accusing rape host told police that he has heard similar stories from two other women
Former stage assistant Juliana Oliveira told the Civil Police on Wednesday (23.abr.br.2025) that she was sought by two women who, like her, would have been victims of rape by the presenter Otavio Mesquita. The information was revealed by the newspaper on Thursday (24.abr.2025).
Oliveira accused Otávio Mesquita of rape because of a situation that aired in 2016, in the program “The Night”, commanded by humorist Danilo Gentili in SBT. She formalized the accusation in a 2 -hour statement held at an Osasco police station in Greater São Paulo.
The former assistant says that Otávio Mesquita committed “Libidinous acts with the use of physical strength” against her in front of the cameras. He states that the presenter touched his intimate parts unexpectedly, even after appeals to stop. Mesquita maintains that the scene was combined.
In a statement, the defender’s defense, represented by lawyer Roberto Campanella, said he had no knowledge of new accusations.

“We are unaware of any new formal manifestation involving other people or reports. We follow a care of the consequences of the case, with full confidence in the conduct of justice.
In this context, it is important to clarify that, in the case involving the presenter Otávio Mesquita, the prosecutor launched a police inquiry – a measure provided for in the legal system – in order to investigate the narrated facts. The inquiry is a pre-procedural phase, intended to collect information under the supervision of the police authority.
It is noteworthy that the establishment of the inquiry does not imply the offer of complaint, but the beginning of the formal calculation of the facts. Upon completion of this stage, with all the parties heard, it will be up to the Public Prosecution Service to assess whether there are legal grounds to follow the case.
From a technical point of view, there are several elements that can lead to the filing of the inquiry, considering both the legislation in force at the time of the facts, in 2016, and the legal deadline and, especially, the absence of any act that configures violence or serious threat by my client, as provided for in the legislation.
As already reported, even in the face of the gravity and disproportionality of the prosecution, we have already entered the reparatory judicial measure.
We continue following the case with serenity and total confidence in the courts, relying on due process of law and responsible for the institutions ”.
