Man arrested after drowning wife and attacking pregnant daughter in Taquara

The Civil Police of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (PCRS) arrested a 42-year-old man in the act, after trying to drown his wife and punching his daughter who was 34 weeks pregnant in Taquara, in the Metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, last Wednesday (10).

According to PCRS investigations, the crime occurred at the family’s residence at night, when he threw his wife into a pond, causing her to drown.

In addition, the man, who was 37 weeks pregnant, also went into labor during the episode.

The woman was rescued by family members, who managed to revive her. When she was already conscious, she claimed to remember after pushing her.

Mother and daughter remain hospitalized and, according to agents, without apparent risk. The daughter was transferred to a hospital with specialist doctors for delivery.

A CNN Brazil contacted the hospitals, but has not received a response so far.
