A driver in Canada at 20h on Saturday (26.ab.2025), local time, 0h this Sunday (27.abr) in Brazil. At least 9 people died. The driver of the vehicle was arrested by the authorities and was not disclosed.
According to the Canadian open television network CBCthe suspect is a man about 30 years old. According to Vancouver’s interim chief, Steve Rai, he was alone and was already “known” of the authorities for “Other circumstances”.

The incident came when the Philippine Community in Canada was gathered for the commemorations of Lapu-Lapu Day, an event that honors the indigenous chief of the same name, who opposed the Spanish colonization in the country and led the victory over the colonizing forces led by the Portuguese Fernão de Magalhães.
In an official note published on social networks, the General Consulate of the Philippines in Vancouver sympathized with the victims of the incident and said that while waiting for more information about the being run over, “They pray that the community remains strong and resilient”.
The consulate will work with the Canadian authorities to continue with a “Complete Investigation”said the president of the Philippines, Bongbong Marcos. Assistance figures were made available by the Filipinas Consulate in Vancouver to support the local community members.
