The Prime Minister of the SR Robert Fico (Smer-SD) traveled to French Normandy on Saturday. On the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the landing of the allies, the heroism and victims of the Second World War will be remembered there. He lays wreaths at the fallen soldiers’ memorial. TASR was informed about this by the Government Office of the Slovak Republic. “As part of his visit to Normandy, the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, will meet with the Mayor of Dunkerque, Patrice Vergriet, who will be thanked for his long-term care for the memory of Czechoslovak soldiers,” the government office said.
As he zoomed in, the Allies landed on the Normandy coast on June 6, 1944 during D-Day. Operation Overlord was one of the largest military actions of World War II.
