Seattle – Egypt achieved promotion for the first time in their fourth World Cup participation. A 1-1 (1-1) draw against Iran on Friday in Seattle was enough for the “Pharaohs” to finish second in Group G at the finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The Belgians, who had the same number of points (five each), only finished ahead because of the better goal difference, while Iran (three) can still hope for a knockout phase ticket as one of the best eight third-placed teams.
