O Santos got hired by Cleber Xavierformer Tite’s auxiliary, to be the new technician of the club. The professional is 61 years old and launched himself to his coach career at the end of last year.
The fish also closed with Matheus Bachi, son of Tite, to be a Cleber assistant, and Fábio Mahseredjian, a trusted man of Tite’s physical preparation.
Tite decided to take a career break to take care of his mental health, but left the professionals who worked with him available in the market. Thus, Matheus Bachi and Fábio Mahseredjian closed with Santos.
The trio worked with Neymar in the selection and has great knowledge about the star’s physical, technical and tactical history.
Cleber Xavier: History in Football
Cleber Xavier has consolidated himself as one of the most reliable and experienced technical assistants in the country. Born on June 26, 1964, in the city of Alegrete (RS), Cleber built his career alongside Tite, being his main assistant in a partnership that lasted more than two decades.
His trajectory in football started as a player, but it was in the role of assistant that stood out. Cleber met Tite in the early 2000s, when they worked together at Caxias-RS. Since then, the partnership has been strengthened, going through clubs such as Grêmio, Atlético -MG, Palmeiras, Internacional and Corinthians – where they won titles such as Libertadores and the Club World Cup in 2012.
At Corinthians, Cleber was known for his attention to the details and for being directly responsible for the tactical analysis of the opponents, as well as contributing to the elaboration of training and the preparation of game strategies. His football view is aligned with Tite’s philosophy, prioritizing the tactical organization, the balance between defense and attack, and the valorization of the collective.
In 2016, Cleber Xavier took on an even greater responsibility by accompanying Tite in the Brazilian team. As an assistant of the national team, he participated in the 2018 and 2022 World Cup campaigns, as well as the 2019 Copa America achievements. His work of observation, performance analysis and reporting on opponents was considered fundamental in team planning.
Known for discretion outside the fields, Cleber rarely appeared in interviews, but has always been very respected behind the scenes of football for competence and dedication. After the cycle in the Brazilian team, he continued to accompany Tite in his projects, including Flamengo, where they took on new challenges in 2023.
Cleber Xavier is seen as one of the great Brazilian experts in tactical analysis.
