A Court of the Russian city of Rostov del Don sentenced between 11 and 14 years in prison for terrorism to five residents of Melitópol, Ukrainian town attached to Russia, who were accused of preparing a terrorist attack in April 2022. Igor Gorlov and Yuri Petrov were sentenced to 14 years in prison; Andréi Gólubev and Alexandr Zhúkov, to 12, and Vladimir Zúev, to 11, to create “a terrorist clandestine organization” in Melitópol, where they planned to detonate a car bomb near a distribution point of humanitarian aid, the independent platform reported Mediazone. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the convicted, who fought in the Ukrainian ranks since 2014, belonged to a group organized and supervised by another Ukrainian citizen from Zaporiyia, Vladimir Minko. Gorlov, 37, was the only military who was still active at the time of his capture for Russian troops in Melitópol. Golubev, Zúev and Zhúkov were part of the Territorial Defense Reserve, while Petrov, 64, was veteran of the Ukrainian army. The defendants denounced that after their arrest they were maintained almost all the time in underground prisons, handcuffed and with bags on the head, in addition to having been subjected to torture.
