After one involving a three-occupant car, the driver, under the influence of alcohol, stole the vehicle of a man who had stopped to help, last Sunday night (27), at km 67 of BR-153, near São Paulo interior.
According to information from, the incident began when a JAC car with three people on board left the track and collided with a ravine. A 48 -year -old driver who was driving in a goal witnessed the accident and interrupted his trip to offer assistance.
The driver of the rugged vehicle, showing signs of disorientation, first tried to enter another car that had also stopped to help. Unsuccessfully, he then drove to the rescuer vehicle, broke into the car and fled the scene.
Triggered, the PRF questioned the two JAC passengers who remained at the scene of the accident. They reported that they did not know the driver well, found him in a bar a few hours before and that the owner of the vehicle had consumed alcohol, so the other man was driving.
All involved were taken to the police station for the registration of the occurrence. The passengers began searching to locate the author of the theft and the vehicle, finding that the man was in his mother’s residence in the neighboring town of Bady Bassitt (SP).
In the early hours of Monday (28), the driver of JAC attended the police station and returned the car to the owner. The car was refunded without damage and with all its belongings.
Given the voluntary return and the absence of material damage, the case was classified as theft, and the victim chose not to file a formal complaint. Despite the victim’s decision, the Federal Highway Police reported that a police report will be drawn up in relation to the absence of the driver at the scene of the accident at the time of the police arrived.
