HUB connects small producers to natural gas mesh and can drain up to 3 million m³/day

The (Brazilian carrier Bolivia-Brasil gas pipeline) developed a hub project to facilitate the injection of biomethane into the natural gas transport mesh. The proposal seeks to connect small and medium producers to the national system, today operated by the company in 5 states: São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

The plan is considered strategic to expand the participation of biofuel in the energy matrix, in line with A, which provides for the mandatory addition of biomethane to natural gas from 2026.

The so -called “biomethane hub” will allow production to flow through ducts or road transport, with GNC (compressed natural gas) and LNG (liquefied natural gas) trucks. According to TBG, the project is modular and can be replicated according to the advancement of demand. The installation can be built in steps and will have variable capacity.

According to the company’s commercial director, the proposal aims to scale producers who would not have enough volume to individually make a connection to the transport network.

“TBG’s biomethane hub is of paramount importance to both the energy transition and the addition of an additional supply source. In addition, we have the competitive advantage of our privileged geographical location due to the concentration of agricultural production in the country’s center.said Hijjar.

The company said it had received contact from several agents interested in participating in the public call for the acquisition of Biomethane from Petrobras. Plants were mapped in all states of the pipeline layout, especially São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. The potential volume identified is about 3 million m³/day (cubic meters per day.

TBG also says it is able to collaborate with the Integrated National Plan of Natural Gas and Biomethane infrastructures, which is in public consultation by (Energy Research Company). The federal plan aims to map and promote infrastructure investments to expand gas and biomethane supply in the country.

The connection to the transport network expands the reach of producers and facilitates access to larger consumer markets, such as industries and distributors. Biomethane, being interchangeable with natural gas, can be used in the same segments, including vehicle supply.
