He landed in Brazil at dawn on Tuesday (29), to start the preparations of the show he will do on Saturday, 3, at Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro. Until then, Gaga had only visited the country once in 2012 – and it was enough to leave with a new tattoo. The artist nourishes special affection for the Brazilian Little Monsters and, on that time, decided to mark the word “Rio” on the skin. Gaga received a fan design during the passage through the capital of Rio de Janeiro and decided to set it in the back of the neck, with the letter I stylized in cross-shaped, in reference to Christ the Redeemer. The guardian was tattoo artist Daniel Tucci, who had a studio between Copacabana and Ipanema. “It was a Sunday, I was having lunch with my son, at the time 4 years old, and her production called me and said, ‘It’s today, let’s go!’, Tucci said in an interview with G1.

Gaga was accompanied by friends, who spent about 3 hours drinking beer and talking in the studio. Tara Savelo, then makeup artist of the artist, also eventually tattooed Christ. “It was all very quiet, she’s very good people. It was a fun afternoon,” recalls the tattoo artist. He also revealed that the singer asked for “a kind of rough thing, a chain style tattoo.”

In a Facebook post, the star explained that “the source was created from the signatures of three fans, all of Rio neighborhoods and ages”. “It represents as music unites us,” he wrote.

That year, Gaga did three shows from the Born This Way Ball tour in Brazil, Rio, São Paulo and Porto Alegre. In 2017, she would return to the country to participate in Rock in Rio, but had to cancel last time for health reasons. The singer suffers from fibromyalgia and faced intense pain.

On social networks, she posted a photo of the tattoo and remembered fans of the tribute. “Please don’t forget my love for you. Remember when I tattooed ‘river’ around your neck, years ago? The tattoo was designed by slum children. You have a special place in my heart, I love you,” Gaga wrote.
