Bolsonaro exalts Nana Caymmi; Lula follows in silence

Singer had already criticized President Lula and supported Bolsonaro previously

The former president (PL) provided solidarity with the death of singer Nana Caymmi, stating on her X profile that the artist was one of the “Most striking voices” of Brazilian music. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) did not comment on the artist’s death.

“I get the news of the death of Nanna Caymmi, one of the most striking voices of our music. Dorival’s daughter, Nanna carried in her art the strength of a lineage that always magnified Brazilian culture.”said Bolsonaro, missing the writing of the singer’s name, who has only one “N”.

The singer Nana Caymmi (1941–2025) died at the age of 84 this Thursday (1st.MAI.2025), in Rio de Janeiro. The information was confirmed by his brother, Danilo Caymmi. She was hospitalized at the São José Clinic, located in Botafogo, in the south of the city, since August 2024, to treat cardiac arrhythmia.

Previously, the singer had made harsh criticism of President Lula and her party, as well as supported Bolsonaro.
