The Medvedev Declaration arises in the context of the temporary ceasefire proposal announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The 72 -hour truce, the 80th anniversary celebrations period of the Soviet victory in World War II.

Kremlin said Putin will host international leaders during the event, including Chinese President Xi Jinping. The celebrations will be held at Red Square in Moscow.

Medvedev, former president of Russia who has become one of the most critical voices to the West since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, classified Zelensky’s statement as a “Verbal provocation”.

The Ukrainian President had indicated that he would be willing to accept a ceasefire, provided he had a duration of 30 days, a proposal that Putin had previously ruled out. The Russian leader said he seeks a long -term agreement, not only a brief break in the conflict.
